What is a Vertical Turbine Fire Pump & Its Uses

Image
A   vertical turbine fire pump  is a type of fire protection pump that draws water from sources that are below the pump level — e.g., wells, underground tanks, reservoirs, ponds — and delivers it at the needed pressure for firefighting systems (sprinklers, hydrants, etc.). Some of their key characteristics & uses: Feature Why It Matters / Where It’s Used Pump impellers submerged  below water level Ensures the pump remains primed; less risk of losing prime. Good where water level fluctuates. Multi-stage design To achieve high pressures (head) as required by NFPA or local fire codes. More stages = more potential pressure. Versatile drive options  (electric motor, diesel engine) Diesel is critical for backup if power is lost. Many fire codes require backup power/drives. Used in large installations : high-rise buildings, industrial complexes, remote or offshore installations, water supply from deep wells or bodies of water. Benefits include: Reliable supply ev...
